Duckish Starter Kit Review

Hey Guys,

Today I'm here with a review of the Duckish Starter Kit. Duckish is a Canadian skin care company that offers a range of bath and body products, including body butter, bath salts, lip balm, lotion sticks and diaper rash sticks, which are all natural and made with organic ingredients. I came across this brand while reading my friend Zoe's blog where I was immediately intrigued by the name Duckish which is Newfoundland slang. Duckish is a word we use to refer to dusk or twilight (ex: It's starting to get duckish out). I had to investigate more so I checked out their website where I found out the owner is originally from Newfoundland! After exploring the website, I decided to reach out and Carolyn offered to send along the Duckish Starter Kit for review so that brings me to today's post.

The Duckish Started Kit includes a variety of skin care items that Duckish has to offer. This kit includes a body butter, lip bomb, bath bombs, bath salts and mini lotion stick. I love how you are able to customize the scents you would like in this kit. The scents offered are as follows:
Bath Salts: Mint, Lavender or Citrus
2 oz Body Butter: Lavender, Pink Grapefruit, Shea (Unscented) or Tea Tree
Mini Lotion Stick: Lavender, Pink Grapefruit, Shea (Unscented) or Tea Tree
Lip Balm: Mint, Pink Grapefruit, or Shea (Unscented)
Bath Bombs: Lavender, Citrus or CocoRose

The first product I was so excited to try was the lotion stick which I chose in the Shea(unscented) option. It comes in a roll up packaging which makes it easy to apply and take on the go. The lotion is moisturizing and has helped my skin so much since I've started using it. I've been having trouble with dry patches (darn Canadian winters) and they have completely gone away since using this lotion stick.

The next product in the starter kit was the body butter in which I chose the Grapefruit scent. This has a thick consistency which melts into the skin leaving me feeling soft and smooth. I've been enjoying using this on my elbows, knees and feet when I'm out of the shower.

For the next product in my starter kit, I chose the Citrus scent in the bath salts. The scent reminds me on freshly squeezed lemonade and makes my mouth water whenever I open the package. When I poured these into my bath and it made the water soft and silky while the scent was refreshing.

Next up was the bath bombs where I chose the Cocorose bombs. They come packaged as 2 and made my bath milky and soft. They scent lingered on my skin when I got out of the bath and I felt so relaxed after using these bath bombs.

The last product in my Duckish Starter Kit was the Mint lip balm. This had a refreshing scent and left a light oil coating which made my lips feel so comfortable. What I also love about this lip balm is that it does not harden up. Natural lip balms I have used in the past have a tendency to develop a hard layer on top which makes them too hard to apply. This lip balm from Duckish stays the perfect consistency and is one of my newest handbag staples.

I hope you guys enjoyed my review of the Duckish Starter Kit. Be sure to check out their website for more amazing natural products!

Quo by Orly Color Amp'd Nail Polish

L-R: LA Dreamin, City of Angels, LA Selfie, Step 2 top coat
Hey Guys,

Today I'm here with a review of the Quo by Orly Color Amp'd nail polishes*. These polishes claim to deliver a flexible, non-damaging 2-step manicure that wears like a gel but removes like a polish. The formula provides quick dry, extended wear and allows the finish of the manicure to bounce back which help prevent smudges during the drying process.

The one that first caught my eye of the bunch was City of Angels - it screamed spring to me! I started by doing my usual manicure routine - remove old polish, trim, buff and file. I did not use a base coat with this polish because I was nervous it may mess with the gel effect so I applied City of Angels to my bare nails. The first coat was quite sheer so I applied a second after which I could still slightly see my nails through the polish so I went in for a third coat. I was happily surprised to see a pink shimmer reflex coming through the polish which I had not expected but it added a pretty dimension to the pastel blue. Then I applied a thin layer of the Step 2 top coat and watched the magic happen. The dry time felt instant compared to other polishes I have worn. Normally I put my nail polish on before bed so it can dry while I'm sleeping but after 5 minutes with the Quo by Orly, I was able to touch the polish and it did not feel tacky. After 15 minutes I decided to put the polish to the ultimate test - dishes! When I sunk my hands into the hot water - I was nervous I was destroying my freshly manicured hands but they looked great after I took them out of the water!

Left: LA Selfie Right: LA Dreamin

I am still wearing City of Angels after a week and a half with a few minor chips and am so excited to try out the other two colours!
Left: Freshly applied Right: 5 days wear
Overall I think these are a fantastic drugstore nail polish formula and I would highly recommend! Have you spotted these Quo by Orly polishes at your local Shoppers Drug Mart? What shades are on your wishlist?

Quo Prismatic Spring 2016 Collection

Hey Guys,

Today I'm here with a review of the Quo Prismatic Spring 2016 collection. This collection includes 3 eyeshadow palettes, 2 face palettes and an eyebrow kit.

L-R: Intergalactic, Infinity & Colourful Life
I was so happy when I opened the Prismatic eyeshadow palettes* because they include a wide variety of colours that are hard to find at the drugstore. Each palette comes with 10 eyeshadows and a dual ended foam applicator.  The shades range from matte, shimmer and satin finishes.

Next up in the collection are the Prismatic face palettes* in Stardust and Moonwalk. These face palettes each contain coordinating highlights, bronzers and blushes. Both palettes were soft and pigmented while being easily blendable. My favorite to use was Moonwalk because the highlight in the palette has a gorgeous peach sheen - it's unlike anything I have in my collection.

The last palette in this collection is the Prismatic Brow Kit* which includes a light and dark brown brow powder, a double ended brush for application and a wax to tame unruly brows. This is the perfect kit to throw in your purse for touch ups during the day. It is so compact and comes with everything you need to keep your brows looking great.

This collection is available at Shoppers Drug Mart.

I hope you guys enjoyed my review of the Quo Prismatic Spring collection! Let me know in the comments if you're planning to pick up anything from this collection. I am planning to do a Spring Makeup tutorial with the Colourful Life eyeshadow palette - it looks like Easter wrapped into a pretty package.
