☆August Empties

Sorry I don't have a picture of my empties! :(
We're currently in L.A! :D
Hey Guys!

Another month has flown by! This is crazy! Are any of you heading back to school like me? I'm not quite sure how I feel about that yet but for today here are my empties this month!

Bath and Body Works Country Apple Shower Gel- This smelled so good! I wish would have saved it for september though since apples always remind me of the beginning of fall and since it can't be bought anymore. Boo!

Clinique All About Eyes- I really love this eye cream because it's not super thick and it helps diminish the look of dark circles. I feel that it's also decreased the amount of fine lines that school stress tends to cause.

Proactiv 3 Step System- This saves my face! I already had a back up at home waiting for me! Would you guys be interested in seeing some before and after pictures? If so, let me know and I'll do a post about my acne story.

Bath and Body Works Carried Away Body Spray- This smells delish but I won't be repurchasing because I already have so many body sprays!

Benefit That Gal Primer (mini size)- I love this stuff! It makes my skin so glowy!

Clinique Ever Better Foundation- This foundation is awesome! I won't be repurchasing right away though because I bought.. some stuff you will see in a haul soon! :D

Maybelline Baby Lips in Quench- LOVEEEEE!! I need another one of these right away!

So there we have it!

What products have you guys finished up this month?

☆Falls Trends: Black Cherry Lips

Hey Guys,

So fall is quickly approaching which means back to school for me which pains a little to write. Where did the summer go? The only thing that can possibly get me excited for fall is all the new trends which pop up this time of year. I love seeing the newest styles of boots, cardigans, eyeshadow, lipstick.. the works. Feeling inspired I sent myself over to which I like to call my makeup encyclopedia and saw they have many posts about Fall trends. This particular posts caught my eye and I had to check it out. There are so many exciting trends but some of them don't seem user friendly. I usually stick to my natural/wearable makeup so these look a little scary. Which brings me to why I'm writing this post.. I wanted to try these out to see if I can make them wearable and change up my makeup a little this fall.

I'm going to try 3 of the trends listed which are the black cherry lips, disco black shadow and green/gold shadows. This is going to be a real adventure for me!

I didn't have a black cherry lipstick so I picked up Revlon Black Cherry since EssieButton has talked about it before and anything she buys, I tend to buy because I believe we have the same skin tone! I also checked out the Maybelline Color Sensational Lipcolor in Plum Perfect and it was gorgeous but I decided to go with Estee to be safe!

Then I picked up the Maybelline New York Eye Studio Marbleized Eyeshadow in Ivy Icon because I do not have any colors in my collection like this one!

For the disco black shadow in going to use Creep from the original Urban Decay Naked palette.

So let's get experimenting!

Today I'm starting with the Black Cherry lips trend which for me was the scariest of the bunch but when I tried it, it felt surprisingly wearable! Instead of apply the lipstick in a swiping motion like I normally would, I dabbed it on a bit at a time then smudged with my finger and layered again. Then I used a concealer brush with a bit of my Maybelline Mineral Power concealer and traced around my lips giving them a smooth line.

I thought matte eyeshadow would look best with such a daring lip color so I used Naked and Buck from the Urban Decay Naked palette. I used Benefit Highbeam to highlight my cheekbones and skipped the blush (which hardly ever happens)!

So there we have it! I really like this lip color and I think I will be sporting it this fall!

What do you think of this lip color? Will you guys be trying out the black cherry lip?

☆Favorite Pink Lipsticks

Hey Guys,

Today I thought I'd share with you my favorite pink lipsticks in this short but sweet post. I think we all need a good pink in our makeup collections because it's a color that is so easy to just swipe on and you're out the door! Just for reference, I have a neutral/golden skin tone.
My go to lately is definitely MAC Hue because I like to make my eyes stand out with eyeshadows and Hue really helps draw any attention to my eyes without being to pale and washing me out.
Top to Bottom:
1. MAC Cream Cup
2. Revlon Primrose
3. Revlon Strawberry Shortcake
4. MAC Hue
5. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream Milan

What are your go to pink lipsticks? Or do you tend to reach for another color like reds or plums?

☆FOTD: Golden Natural

Hey Guys,

Here I am with another Face of the Day! I'm hooked on these beacuse they're just so much fun to do! I hope this doesn't look tooo much like my last one but I usually stick to extremely natural makeup. I'm hoping doing these and reading other peoples face of the day's will help me venture into more make possibilities! Maybe one day.. color?! Who knows! But for now, here I am in my au naturale.

I used my regular foundation routine which you can see here. I jazzed up my eyeshadow with a bit of shimmer because I have been so obsessed with my NYX Matte palette, I felt it was time to have some sparkle in my life. I used Stila Kitten all over my lid and on my lower lash line and then blended NYX Iced Mocha on the outer third. I also used a bit of Urban Decay Blackout eyeshadow to line my upper lash line. Then I went for Highbeam and Benefit Danelion blush (I can't get enough of it). I used my Burt's Bees Mango lip balm and Revlon Peach Petal lipgloss because I find it pairs really well with Stila Kitten.

What are you guys wearing today? Do you stick to natural makeup most of the times as well?

☆Top 10 Favorite Nail Polishes

Hey Guys,

Today I'm finally doing my Top 10 Favorite Nail Polish post! I was requested to do this by the lovely Amelia from All Things Beautiful so please go check her out! This was the hardest post ever but fun although I felt like a mother having to pick her favorite child (Dramatic hey?). I approached this by grabbing the first polishes I could think of that I wear most often. I didn't realize I was such a pink and blue kinda girl but apparently I am by the looks of it! I also had a hard time figuring out how I would do this post so I figured I'd go one color per nail.
OU! Please excuse my poor short nail.. Remember when I said I (almost) stopped biting my nails? That one is the almost haha!

Thumb: Essie Fiji

Index: Essie Van D'Go

Middle: OPI Teenage Dream

☆Fresh Paint: OPI Fly

Hey Guys,

Today I'm here with OPI Fly which came out with the Nikki Minaj collection early this year. This color is described to be a medium sky blue cream and is perfect for summertime! I loved the whole Nikki Minaj collection but I already have so much nail polish (it's crazy!) so I went and picked up the cute mini sizes. I was searching dupes and I read that a Collection 2000 polish called Electric Dreams is a close dupe!

This polish is opaque with 2 coats and I have one coat of OPI Top Coat to finish it off. This way my first time trying this top coat and it didn't work out very well. My polish went super bubbly but I'm not sure if it's because I might have put it on too thick. Have you guys tried this top coat or have had any troubles with it?

What do you guys think of this color? What are you wearing on your nails today?

☆Amusing August Link Up- Week 2

Chasing Birdies

I have been so excited to link up with Steph and Laura @ ABrunetteDuet for the Amusing August Blog Hop but I totally missed last week due to exams and now I'm late on this one! I have to get up to speed on my blogging haha! This weeks topic is:

Post a picture of yourself doing something funny or making a goofy face!

The first 3 are from different nights out with friends. We play this card game and when you get a king you have to place it on your forehead and you can make as many rules as you want until the king falls off. I love when I get the king and I think my friends caught on to it! Lol!

Being crazy at the beach
Shocked that our pizza was so small

Taken in Nashville.. I believe at the Country Music Hall of Fame
My whole family took funny pictures under this.

I love these link ups! I'm so excited for next weeks!

☆Current Foundation Routine

Products I'm using ATM
Hi Guys!

Long time no talk! There has been so much on the go this past week. I just returned to my hometown again for the rest of the summer because I just finished exams.. Yay! Last week I was so swamped with exams and studying. My family is also leaving for a trip to California in a few days! I feel like I've been doing so much travelling this summer but I have a few days to relax so I'm excited to finally get to do some writing!

Today I thought it would be fun to do my current foundation routine so here we go:

The products I'm loving right now are Benefit That Gal + the POREfessional, Maybelline BB Cream, Clinique Even Better Foundation, Maybelline Mineral Power Concealer, MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural in Light and Urban Decay Deslick.

Time for my close up lol!!

First I mix my Benefit That Gal and the POREfessional which diminishes the look of pores and brightens your complexion. Then I use my Maybelline BB Cream as a moisturizer and a sunscreen because it has SPF 30. After I took this picture, I realized your have to blend the bb cream in quick or the texture will get funny.

Then I start with my Clinique Even Better foundation which I love but I'm sad because I'm almost out! I think I'm going to repurchase it because I love how natural it is and how light it feels on my face. Then again, I'll be at Sephora very soon so I might pick up a few foundations there. I was thinking the Laura Mercier Silk Cream or Makeup Forever HD. Which foundation would you guys recommend? In this picture I have the foundation only on the left half of my face.

Then I use my Maybelline Mineral Power concealer (which I found for $2.. Score!!) and place on the darkest area of my eye. From there, I use my ring finger and blend it all under my eye and some on my eyelid.

I look like I'm in pain lol!
I swear it feels nice!

Lastly I use my MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Natural and spray my Urban Decay Deslick which keeps you oil free all day! I really like how this helps make the powder look much more natural and if you accidentally put on to much.

What is your current foundation routine? Have you found any new products you're loving lately?

☆Fresh Paint: OPI Mermaid's Tears

Hey Guys,

Here I am with another Fresh Paint post! This is OPI Mermaid's Tears which is opaque with 2 coats and I have one coat of Sally Hansen Mega Shine on top.

This color looks bright but is extremely wearable. If your not a person who likes to wear bright shades, this is a good way to add some color to your nails!

This color came out with the OPI Pirates of the Carribean collection which came out last year so it might be hard to find.

I recently read that OPI Thanks A Windmillion from the recent  Holland collection is a very close dupe so if you fancy this color then I would check that one out!

What do you guys think of this color? What are you wearing on your nails today?

Tips☆Making Makeup Last All Day

Hey Guys,

This girl looks so sad doesn't she? All that hard work on her colorful eyeshadow that's now melting away. I guess she forgot primer! During the hot summer months we get to go outside, hang at the beach and enjoy the sun but we don't want our makeup melting off our face! It seems like most people don't wear a lot of makeup in the summer but I wear a tinted moisturizer or bb cream when my skin is good, and on days when it acts up I wear a light foundation so I need my makeup to last all day. Here are my tips:

Primer: Just like a car thats getting ready for paint needs primer, our makeup needs something to adhere to so it stays put. I would use a primer that will keep your makeup on, but not feel to heavy. I recommend Benefit That Gal primer because it illuminates your skin while priming so you have a pretty, light feeling summer glow. I've also heard many good things about L'Oreal Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base.

Powder: You'll need a good powder to set your foundation and to keep any oils away. If your a person who doesnt like wearing makeup on hot days, you can use your powder to control oil and even out your skin tone. I use my MAC MSF in Light or my Maybelline Dream Matte Powder.

Finishing Spray: I love spraying these on after powder because it takes away any cakey-ness that powder can cause and helps to set all your makeup in place. Right now I'm using Urban Decay Deslick which works amazingly!

Waterproof Mascara: This is a must during the summer.. Girls we don't want those racoon eyes! I'm using Maybelline Mega Plush waterproof and I love it!

Exfoliated and Stained lips: To have lip color that stays put all day, first exfoliate your lips to get rid of any dry skin. I love the Lush lip scrub in Bubblegum! Then use a stain like one of the NYX Soft Matte lip creams. It will last all day long!

Make sure you bring a makeup sponge, makeup remover and some oil blotting sheets just in case your makeup has a minor meltdown. They can help you freshen up and your makeup will look freshly applied!

Do you guys have any tips for keeping your makeup on all day? Please let us know in the comments below!

Guest Post☆E.L.F Flawless Eyeshadow Review

Hey Guys!
Today I'm super excited because I have my first guest post from Sophie @ Sophierosehearts! She is a lovely person and has a wonderful blog so please do go check her out! Take it away Sophie!
Ashlee recently contacted me and asked me if i would be interested in doing a guest post on her blog and I jumped at the great opportunity! My name is Sophie of sophierosehearts and I am a 19 year old from the UK (: I decided to do this post as i believe E.L.F is fairly widely accessible and very affordable- so hopefully appeals to a large majority of readers!
Recently I made a purchase on E.L.F and I picked up one of the Flawless Eyeshadow's in Tantalizing Taupe. These appear to be a fairly recent addition to the wide and ever expanding E.L.F collection, however as soon as I saw these pop up I new I had to nab one! For £2.50 this is a steal, when I first saw these I automatically thought of the Wet 'N' Wild Colour Icon palette's which are like this, however as these aren't available in the UK this is a great alternative! I decided to opt for the shade in Tantalizing Taupe, but there are 4 other lovely choices in, Beautiful Browns, Golden Goddess, Party Purple and Smoky. Hopefully these will become a success and they will release other colour shades!

The Palettes come in a small sleek white case and contain 4 shades labelled 'Base', 'Lid', 'Crease' and 'Line'. They also contain a small mirror at the bottom where this is a double-ended sponge applicator which I never tend to use but handy for touch-up emergency's.

Swatches L-R; Base, Lid, Crease, Line
The quality of the shadows are fantastic, whilst the base colour doesn't show up true to its colour on camera, it is the perfect base shade, and i can tell i am going to get a lot of wear out of this palette whether it is for daytime or night time! The wear of these is also great, I wore the palette without using a primer for 7hours or so and they only creased a teensy bit, but that was without primer. With a primer underneath I can imagine there would be no problem with creasing!
Thanks for asking me to do a guest post Ashlee and hopefully this will encourage some of you to check out my blog!
Thank you so much Sophie for the awesome post!

☆Road Trip Beauty Tips

Hey Guys,

This is a post I wrote a couple of days ago which I forgot to post! It's my tips on preventing any makeup troubles while on the road! Here we go:

So I'm currently on an 8 hour road trip with my boyfriend to our hometown for a little vacation away from the city. I decided to take a quick break from being the moose eyes to root through my makeup bag. It's also smoldering hot here today and my bf's car has no air conditioning so I was trying to find a way to get my mind off the heat. I keep my makeup to a bare minimum when travelling but this day we had to go to dinner as soon as we got in town. I've now discovered that there are many makeup misshapes that can happen in such heat so im here with a few solutions to car boredom and overheating.

Chapped lips (due to warm wind hitting you in the face)- you need a good lip chap when in your car because the air conditioning or wind will be hitting you in the face and drying them out. I hauled out my korres lip butter in pomegranate because it's super moisturizing while being pretty and bright!

Oily skin- With all that sun hitting your face your bound to oil up a little. I took out my urban decay deslick and sprayed away. It felt so refreshing!

Sunscreen- Ever heard of a drivers tan? Lol! Whether you're on the drivers side or passenger side, you don't want one side of your body more tanned than the other.

I also tried to curl my lashes for something to do but that apparently can get a little bit dangerous so I wouldn't recommend that!

Update: My boyfriend had drivers tan! He should've worn his sunscreen! :)

Do you guys wear any makeup on road trips? Do you have any tips/recommendations for makeup while travelling?

☆Fresh Paint: Essie Van D'Go

Hey Guys,

This is one of my all time favourite colors! I love peach and I love pink! Whoever put the 2 together is genius! This dream polish is called Essie Van D'Go which is opaque with 2 coats and I have one coat of Sally Hansen Mega Shine on top.

This polish came out with their Spring 2010 collection so it might be hard to come by now. I did see a polish which I thought would be similar in their Spring 2012 called A Crewed Interest but I think Van D'Go might be slightly pinker!

This just screams spring and summer to me.. and it reminds me of Princess Peach. I feel like this color would match her dress perfectly! Haha! It's definitely in my top 10 favorite nail polishes.

What do you guys think of this color? What are you wearing on your nails today?

☆July Favorites

Flowers from my Nan's garden
are another fave this month! I
wish I had a blush this color!
Hey Guys,

Here we are again! Another month is gone by and theres not much left to our summer. Enjoy the sun while you can because soon the leaves will be falling and we'll be seeing frost on our windows! Yuck! On that happy note, here are some of my favorites that will keep us thinking summer is here all year long!

Benefit That Gal Primer- This gives a super glow-y and moisturized effect while helping your makeup stay on!

NYX Bohemian Chic Nude Matte Palette- I haven't stopped using this since I bought it! I love how natural matte eyeshadows look, especially during the summer. Here's my review on the palette if you would like to check it out!

Benefit Posietint- I wear this by itself or under my blush. It gives them a lovely pink glow thats perfect for summer and lasts all day!

Benefit CORALista- I have been wearing this all month with Posietint. I love the subtle gold glow it gives and I don't need any highlighter because the sheen this blush gives!

Korres Lip Butter in Jasmine- I love this light pink color and it's perfectly moisturizing for the summertime!

Maybelline Baby Lips in Quench- So moisturizing and smells so good. I'm almost out of mine and I think I'm going to pick up a new one!

Lemon Summer Vanillas body spray- I love fruity body sprays. They're my absolute favourite. This body spray smells just like lemonade!

Coach Poppy Perfume- This is a perfect sweet summer scent! Here are the notes: bright cucumber, juicy mandarin and freesia buds notes. Heart is filled with aroma of jasmine, pink water lily, Southern gardenia, red candied rose petals and creme brûlée accord. Base note is a mixture of cedar wood, sandalwood, vanilla and marshmallow. I didn't realize there was mandarin, creme brûlée and marshmallow in there! Definitely why I love it so much!
